Awery adds new AI functionality for data interrogation

Awery Aviation Software has expanded its AI functionality to allow users to connect their operational data with platforms including ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and Cursor. The new functionality is called Ask Awery and allows users of Awery's Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platform to ask questions about their data and receive answers directly through their chosen AI tool. "Achieving widespread digital adoption in air cargo depends on making technology straightforward and practical for the people using it every day, and this tool allows our customers that benefit," said Vitaly Smilianets, founder and chief executive of Awery. "Instead of manually extracting and processing data, our users can now prompt their chosen AI tool to compile information, such as 'tonnage by customer for August, broken down by lane' or 'charter quote conversion by customer, covering the last 90 days', using data directly from their Awery account. "Reporting tasks that previously required bringing together disparate data and could take hours can now be completed in seconds, giving our customers more time to analyse the results and use them to make better-informed decisions, save time and resources, and ultimately deliver a better service to their own customers." The air cargo software firm said the integration uses Model Context Protocol (MCP), which it described as "a standard that enables AI applications to connect with external systems and data sources". Access is read-only and governed by each user's existing Awery permissions, meaning users can only access data they are already authorised to view. "Looking ahead, we see significant potential to take this further through AI agents that can automate recurring reporting and routine data checks," added Smilianets. "Customers will be able to set agents to compile reports on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis, removing repetitive work and giving teams more time to focus on the decisions that data supports."

SF Airlines adds Singapore flight as it expands at its first overseas hub

SF Airlines has added a freighter flight between Shanghai and Singapore as it ramps up the use of its Southeast Asian hub. The new flight is operated with one of the express airline's Boeing 767 freighters and will enhance "connectivity between Singapore and China, our largest air cargo market, while supporting the movement of fast-growing high-tech cargo between our two countries", said Changi Airport. Earlier this year, the Chinese express giant selected Changi Airport as its first overseas hub as it looked to capitalise on growth in Southeast Asia and South Asia. In order to develop the airport as its hub, the express group signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Changi Airport Group (CAG) that will see Singapore act as a hub for SF's business heading to/from Southeast Asia, South Asia and Oceania. Under the MoU, the two aim to capitalise on Asia Pacific's "long-term economic growth", particularly the rapidly expanding air trade within the region, and between the region and the rest of the world. "The partnership will leverage Singapore's strategic location and Changi Airport's role as a global consolidation and transhipment hub," the two said in a press release. Changi Airport said that the agreement would support high-value cargo flows and the evolving needs of regional and international supply chains. Commenting on the new flight, the airport said: "Changi Airport is pleased to welcome SF Airlines' inaugural Boeing 767 Shanghai-Singapore freighter service today." "As part of SF Group's plans to develop Singapore as its first overseas hub serving Southeast Asia, South Asia and Oceania, this new route marks an important milestone in strengthening air trade flows between Singapore and China, and beyond across Asia Pacific. "We look forward to deepening our partnership with SF Airlines and supporting the continued growth of its network through Changi Airport."

Cathay Cargo the latest to add Navi Mumbai freighter flights

Cathay Cargo has become the latest airline to shift its Mumbai freighter flights to the recently opened Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA). The Hong Kong carrier said that it would operate three flights to the Indian airport per week using its Boeing 747-400ERF and 747-8F aircraft. The carrier had previously been operating its dedicated cargo flights to Mumbai's Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, but freighter operations are being temporarily suspended at the airport while upgrades are carried out. The carrier's bellyhold cargo operations will remain at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Cathay Pacific regional head of cargo for South Asia, the Middle East, and Africa, Rajesh Menon, said: "The move of our Mumbai freighter operations to Navi Mumbai International Airport reinforces our steadfast commitment to the Indian market and its growth trajectory. "By combining Navi Mumbai International Airport's modern infrastructure with our dedicated freighter presence and our 'We Know How' expertise, we are providing reliable connectivity and specialist handling for local enterprises, exporters and SMEs. "This will also further strengthen connectivity between Western India's exporters and key global markets through our Hong Kong hub." In addition to its Navi Mumbai International Airport freighter service, Cathay Cargo continues to operate its dedicated freighter network across India, operating five weekly freighter flights from Delhi and Chennai, respectively. Cathay Cargo utilises additional bellyhold capacity on Cathay Pacific's passenger aircraft across all five of its Indian gateways: Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad with 45 passenger flights per week across these five cities. Earlier this month, Silk Way West announced the start of its cargo operations at the new India airport. Hong Kong Air Cargo is also moving its freighter flights to the airport. NMIA opened its doors back in December, but freighter operations did not get underway until 1 August, when an IndiGo freighter took off from the airport.
